Of emeralds and sauerkraut

By a stroke of luck, we discovered that the valley beside our bed and breakfast hosts an emerald deposit (Habachtal) that Heather studied during her Masters degree. We managed to find the family who has been prospecting there for the past 20 years. They let us look around their home display and Heather 'talked shop' while Josh thought of the imminent dinner of pork, sauerkraut, dumplings and beer.

That's a neat photo, Heather - an especially evocative moment frozen in time! What a "coincidence" to have stumbled into that emerald treasure trove! Love, Mom
