We've learned through the years that Justin is the sort who is very aware of his abilities and limitations and will wait until he knows he's ready to try something new. 

He announced at the end of last summer that he was ready to take the training wheels off of his bike and was zipping around the school yard within the hour. Within five minutes of this zipping, Justin announced that he was ready to go "off-roading" to the track with the jumps.
