Mushrooms!

Josh is a microbiologist. Ironically, a childhood episode of Swiss Family Robinson instilled a deep-seated fear of fungi in him. This summer, and into the fall, Josh safely overcame this phobia. As you can see in the photo collage above, Josh and family were busy scanning the ground on long walks in the woods this past fall.

Mushrooms are the fruit of fungi, like the apples on apple trees. After collecting and identifying countless specimens, Josh is no longer afraid of fungi. In fact, they're actually kind of beautiful. And, as Josh recently wrote in a post-microbial apocalypse article, they're so very important for making the world go round.
