War stuff

In one town called Stowe-on-the-Wold was a VE-day celebration which included a display of war memorabilia. This was a little strange for us. Guns, helmets, and air raid sirens. The strange thing was that the signs on the floor essentially said, "Please handle the guns". We could pick them up, aim, whatever - it just didn't feel right somehow. And with veterens looking on, the idea of taking a picture of us holding a gun was inconceivable. A strange experience. And one which was helpful in bringing the reality of war a little closer to us.

Yes, very creepy.
You should watch 'A Very Long Engagement'. It's a good movie - made in France (English sub-titles).

We enjoyed that movie very much. Same director (and actress) as Amelie. Keep those movie suggestions coming, whoever you are...
