Whatever works?

When her lungs get going, we try whatever we think might work. Sometimes 15 minutes waiting does the trick, sometimes music works (quiet piano ballads in Pandora are playing as this is written), other times going for a walk or drive soothes her. Often we just shake our heads and groan, like last night... and today, she's starting to fuss again. But with perfect weather, at least we can relax a little and soak some sun into our Britainbleach-white skin.
P.S. Notice the Moses cot nestled in the shade behind Josh's drying trousers... she gurgled and looked around for ten minutes or so before informing us of her apparent boredom. Now she's on the kitchen floor fast asleep to soothing music and the intensifying aroma of Josh's curry lunch, just about ready in the oven. Yum.

I've heard that the noise of a vacuum can be quite soothing to babies, to the point where people will record the sound and play it on repeat in the baby's room. Piano ballads, however, are much more pleasant for your ears though!

She'd love it here in Norway. The sound of planes passing overhead, seagulls screeching and waves crashing on the shore outside my bedroom are making my sleep perfect. No really. They are. It's MUCH quieter than the noise from my students!

I've decided: I'm retiring to Norway!!!

Rich - you're making me jealous - that's supposed to be me sleeping on a beach in Norway right now. Or at least sleeping.

Laura-
The Pursuit of Happiness by Douglas Kennedy. Not too trashy, not too deep, just a good sunshine read.
