Toys 'R' Not Us

Our holiday has nearly ended. Josh starts work next Tuesday and life will return to normal. In the meantime, we're still arranging our 'affairs' and sticking books on shelves. Josh gets a little kick out of pretending to be handy around the house: washing windows, scraping paint, sweeping, washing windows, scraping paint. Heather putters with the boxes and tries to keep things organised, while patiently awaiting the arrival of our car. Jamie just goes about her business. One point of note: toys are irrelevant to our little princess. This morning she sat at length amidst the rubbish and recycling, happily opening and closing a yogourt container, inserting and removing a plastic milk bottle cap. This year's Christmas present for Jamie: tupperware. And a piece of styrofoam.

I would love to find wonder in a yogurt pot and a plastic lid. Unfortunately I do not think it will happen soon...

I think I had that same lino on the kitchen floor of the house I grew up in! Ahh, Ontario.

don't all kids really want tupperware and styrofoam for Christmas?? and some great bubble wrap and maybe a big card board box like from a fridge for a fort!

Is styrofoam the same as polystyrene? I'm confused. And have you started saying 'diapers' instead of nappies yet? chuckle

I am being slow, as usual: why styrofoam? I keep pondering whether that's because it's considerably less noisy when repeatedly inserted into a yogurt pot than a plastic lid? Or am I missing something?
Love Thea

Styrofoam: polystyrene. She (and all babies) loves to poke and tear it apart.

And have no fear, we still say nappies.
