Fun times

Every year, Guy Fawkes night is celebrated in Britain on November 5th (and on every evening for weeks beforehand...). The event includes fireworks, bonfires, and effigy-burning of Britain's most famous traitor. In 1605, Guy Fawkes sat below parliament with dozens of barrels of gunpowder, ready to light the fuse when he was caught and thrown into the tower of London to 'volunteer' his confession. The "Gunpowder Plot" was to blow up parliament (and King James I) when it opened on November 5 of that year.
(From right to left) Rich, Heather (Rich's sister), Joe (Heather's husband), me, and Heather went to see the *huge* bonfire (above) and fireworks (further above) at an undisclosed location near a local tourist attraction, which has been named far too many times on this blog. The soundtrack to the fireworks was taken song by song from soundtracks of 'great' Hollywood movies (e.g. Apollo 13, Titanic, Star Wars, LOTR). But it was very good nonetheless, and just may be our favorite fireworks of all time. The best! But, it doesn't hold a sparkler to our big budget Halloween fireworks extravaganzas from years past with Steve, Chris, Julee, Seth, and Laura. We missed that tradition something fierce this year, guys.
