Conger

Josh went to Wales on Tuesday for a fishing trip with his lab. Ten men (the women weren't interested). Eight hours. We caught a dozen fish in the first hour and then they wisened up. Here is the Conger eel that Josh caught, then promptly threw back in. At 10 lbs, it was the biggest fish caught by our group that day. Congers are loads of fun to catch, do not taste great and have nasty teeth that can remove fingers. It was a good day. For us, not the fish.

It was a little pathetic really. We skewered some fish/squid guts on big hooks, attached huge weights, chucked them over the side for 20-30 minutes, tied the rods to the boat and stared at them. Lots of 'skill' required... The water was terribly murky so the fish rely entirely on smell. Nonetheless, we did have a great time and will be going back in October for cod season!
