Unflattered

Mark and Debbie were due on Wednesday. After trying all the tricks in the book, they resigned themselves to a quiet Saturday in Stratford, entertaining Jamie at our new old favourite: the butterfly farm. Jamie was more impressed this second visit. She was contentedly perched on daddy's back, and even got a brief exposure to the circle of life. A big blue butterfly landed on the pond and flapped its way along the surface, supported by our cheers of encouragement. As a pellet-swollen koi surfaced and inhaled this fine Morpho peleides specimen, we averted Jamie's innocent eyes. Such a juxtaposition of beauty and misery in this microcosm of life that is the butterfly farm. We had burgers for lunch.

And yes, that is a butterfly in mid flight. We only had one take thanks to a less-than-chatty passerby.

Thanks guys for helping to distract us today. Perhaps the butterfly thought that "blooming" Debbie was a flower?! And Josh - next time you order burgers, remember to add the bacon and Gouda - it's much tastier that way!
