Westward Ho!

Titled in honour of a favourite Calvin and Hobbes book, this post commemorates our two-week sojourn with Heather's parents and our BC friends. Anyone likely to suffer from beach envy, stop reading now.
Mom and Dad worked their butts off to get the renovations on their gorgeous place on the lake done in time for our visit, with the result that six people fit into a two-bedroom cabin with ease. The kids loved having both art and dance classes in the treefort, while we put the new TV room to good use cheering uselessly for the Canucks.
We spent at least half our time in Victoria by the water. Both the kids and Heather repeatedly answered the question "What shall we do today?" with a prompt "To the beach!". We found crabs and helicopters, pottery and anemones (try saying "in an anemone" five times fast), and happily got soaked and sunburnt.
When we weren't on the beach, we were exploring Fort Rodd Hill, eating our way through town, catching up with old friends, or making messes with Nan. We also spent a great long weekend on the Mainland, but unfortunately have virtually no photographic evidence of such.
A huge thank you to Mom and Dad, and it was wonderful to catch up with some of you lucky West-coasters. To those of you we didn't get to see: Westjet has just begun a direct Vancouver-Kitchener flight!

Josh and Heather - you two do an absolutely fabulous job of putting forever-memories together. I hope you will continue doing so at least until your two blessed offspring are able to take over and likewise bless you. Love you!
