d) safe and quiet neighborhood.
e) good backyard for the kid(s).
It was a tall order but we found one (of 15 viewed) that fit all those criteria. We're pleased, relieved and thankful.

Looks great! Real wood fireplace? Still works?
Yes, but that's one of the problems. 12-inch deep hearth instead of the modern standard of 16-inches... We'll have to find an easy-going insurance company.
Looks very nice - love to visit you one of these fine days. Congrats on the new place!
Gorgeous home - we are SO happy for you. And so happy for us too, that you are coming HOME!!! It just dawned on me this morning that you are coming home the month after next!!! YAY!
So, is this house a done deal?
Meghan
Thanks all. And Meghan, it must be a done deal by tomorrow. Everything is agreed. Just requires signatures and lawyers (blech).
Looks lovely. We're really pleased for you guys - although sorry to lose you. We look forward to visiting (when there's not too much snow!)
Contrary to Mark, I was wondering whether the snow comes with the house. Looks fab - cool icicles on the roof!
Debbie
Icicles - yet another problem - needs more insulation. We've got our work cut out for us. But that's what we asked for!
The house looks great! I can't wait to visit you there! It looks like you might possibly be on the snow belt - welcome to lake-effect snow :). Best of luck in your home sweet home.
Yes, we've had some snowy weeks here in southern Ontario lately. And with the very cold weather, a hard crust formed. I'm just the right weight for the crust to break under some of my footsteps, unpredictably. Taking the dog out umpteen times a day, I've had several opportunities to take a tumble. Once it was in such deep snow that I had trouble getting my foot free again. But today was payback time - the warmer weather of the past two days has meant that the crust is decidedly weaker - I break through at every step, but now it's Kazan (all 25 pounds of him) who can't predict when he's going to be able to walk niftily along the surface, and when a sudden breakthrough is going to throw him flat on his face. Only he doesn't have so far to fall. The joys of winter. I love it. And the glory of spring in the air is now upon us - yay!
The house looks beautiful - I can't wait to visit! I love the large bay window in the front! And is that a garage to the right of the house?

Congrats guys - looks great. And fantastic about the fireplace. I hope you use it. Can't stand seeing unused fireplaces.
And mom - I share your frustration over the crusty-topped snow we've had on the ground lately. I have bruising all up the bottom half of my legs from where I've broken through the snow and hit hard against the surface. After a long walk with the dogs out back, I'll actually come home to find swollen welts on my legs. The warm weather is welcome...
Yay.. then you'll be on this side of the pond again too!!! hope you are all well...
