And this little piggy...
We're not convinced that we've got the feeding thing in the bag yet but we decided that home is where we want to be. Bundled up and ready to go, Jamie got her first peek at sunshine and feel of wind on her cheeks as we drove home to Kenilworth. At 9 PM as this is written, mother and daughter are asleep upstairs after having enjoyed a day full of feeding (attempts) and sleeping (successfully) as a family: all three of us in the bed with Jamie on Josh's chest. We know that the coming days and nights will have many ups and downs and long cries but right now we're just so thankful for this quiet day to gather strength.Oh, and a huge thank you to everyone for all the congratulations and encouragement. We are *overwhelmed* and will do our best to reply to each of you.

Good call, Laura - she did indeed. And Caitlin, thanks for your comment. Until now we've said that she's cute but we have no idea who she looks like.
You should try looking at baby picutres of other relatives to see resemblances - I have a cousin who when he was a boy was the splitting image of my grandfather at the same age. We joked with him about how it allowed him to glimpse into the future and see what he would look like at an old age. :)
No matter who she resembles more, she is a very beautiful baby and I'm looking forward to lots of pictures of her growing up!

Welcome to the world Jamie! Now, I'm expecting a lot from you, ducky, to stay close to your roots and teach Mum (note the 'u') and Dad a bit about being English. This could be tough as they have shown little inclination thus far to get out the Pimms, watch a spot of cricket and indulge in a M&S roast dinner. But, no fear, lucky for you Auntie Jenni (obviously not a real Auntie - another English quirk) is on hand for support, guidance and general love should you need it. I make a particularly good pot of tea - you'll need me to teach you that. Although, being partly a Douglas, you've probably got everything figured out already!
Anyway, little love, Uncle Shane and I are sitting here, toasting your health - he says 'top of the morning to ya' (just to fulfill an Irish stereotype that you'll hear plenty about in future years). God bless and we can't wait to meet you.
And by the way, it is your duty as an Englishwoman to feel totally indignant about your parents' love for posting your first photos on the internet. How embarrassing. But I'm afraid that's the world we live in now. Just wait until 'baby's first potty' gets published.

Oma Wilpstra says "vhat a schatje!!" and GREAT Auntie Audrey wants to kiss those fat little cheeks!!! Baby Jamie is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!and yes, we are VERY prejudiced!!! Oma says that you can go to work Hez and Oma will babysit!!Right now you are a little too far away but who knows in the future? Oma says she's going to knit her new little great granddaughter a new pink "vestje"! We love her head full of dark hair! She needs some baby barettes aye Hez? Josh and Heather, we are all soooooooo happy for you and thankful to the Lord that everything went so well!! We promise to show Opa the pictures of baby Jamie!She's a real dolly!!
